Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.

City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

A high-ranking representative commented the incident made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
